Hazard Communications

HAZWOPER 8, 24 & 40 Hour

Our Staff

(Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) Plus GHS Hazardous Communication.  Designed to meet the requirements of the OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 Regulation.

This is a 4 hour hazard communication course that satisfies the general training requirements of OSHA’s hazard communication standard 29CFR1910.1200. If this course is not tailored for participants’ specific worksite, some additional training will be required at their worksite, such as what chemicals are in their work area, where Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and the employer’s written Hazcom program are located.

We have based this course on good adult education techniques, like involving students in small group activities. This approach will foster participation from the class and allow students to draw on their work experience to learn material and solve problems.

This course is delivered in 8 sections:

• Course introduction
• Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) overview
• Review of common health effects
• Chemical overview
• Measurement and exposure limits
• Other ways of communicating hazards
• Controlling hazards
• Emergencies and first aid

After completing the course, participants will be able to:

• Discuss the 5 key elements of OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (Hazcom).
• Describe your rights under OSHA’s Hazcom standard.
• Identify the new OSHA label symbols and explain what each means.
• Describe the 4 routes of entry for chemicals and give an example of a chemical known to enter the body through each.

This course meets the requirements outlined in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 for 8 (eight) hours of annual refresher training for workers at hazardous waste sites. This course is designed for general site workers who remove hazardous waste or who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances or health hazards.   The course is comprised of nine sections covering topics pertaining to workplace hazards associated with Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER). Topics include HAZWOPER regulations, Site Characterization, Toxicology, Hazard Recognition, Personal Protective Equipment, Decontamination, Medical Surveillance, Confined Space Entry and Emergency Procedures. Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate of completion which is accepted by OSHA as documentation of training.

HAZWOPER 8 Hour Refresher Plus GHS & OSHA Hazardous Communication

The HAZWOPER 24 hour training program will teach students how to protect workers when in hazardous situations. Our courses are designed to comply with the extensive federal regulations (29 CFR 1910.120) to ensure the safety and the health of workers.

HAZWOPER 24 Hour Course Plus GHS & OSHA Hazardous Communication

This course covers 40 hours of instruction required by 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3), OSHA's Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response training standard. This course is designed for General site workers engaged in hazardous substance removal or other activities which expose or potentially expose workers to hazardous substances and health hazards. This course is comprised of 24 sections, covering topics pertaining to workplace hazards associated with Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER). Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of completion which is accepted by OSHA as documentation of training.
